  • Brake Shoe Facing with Friction Block Assy (Position Specific): This critical sub-assembly features two distinct configurations per axle side:
  • Front LH Upper (RH Lower) Brake Shoe Facing with Friction Block Assy: Positioned as the upper shoe on the left-hand wheel or the lower shoe on the right-hand wheel, this assembly provides the primary friction surface contact within the brake drum during application.
  • Front LH Lower (RH Upper) Brake Shoe Facing with Friction Block Assy: Acting as the lower shoe on the left-hand wheel or the upper shoe on the right-hand wheel, this component delivers secondary friction contact, working in tandem with its counterpart for balanced braking force.
  • Friction Elements & Core Shoe:

  • Bushing-Front Brake Shoe Shaft Bracket: This durable bushing is pressed into the brake backing plate bracket. It provides a smooth, low-friction pivot surface for the brake shoe shaft, ensuring consistent shoe movement during brake application and release.
  • Roller Shaft: This hardened steel shaft serves as the pivotal anchor point. Mounted through the bushing in the bracket, it allows the brake shoe assembly to rotate slightly when force is applied.
  • Circlip for Shaft (x2): These robust circlips are installed in grooves on either end of the Roller Shaft. They securely retain the shaft within the Bushing-Front Brake Shoe Shaft Bracket, preventing any unintended lateral movement or dislodgement.
  • Actuation & Return Components:
  • Retracting Spring Fixing Pin: This small but vital pin provides a secure anchor point on the brake shoe assembly for one end of the retracting return spring, ensuring the brake shoe reliably retracts from the drum after brake pedal release.
  • Contact Assy-Brake Shoe: This component (often a lever or link) forms the crucial interface between the brake actuation mechanism (like the wheel cylinder piston or cam) and the brake shoe assembly.
